PWYA travel teams provide an opportunity for players to expand their baseball season beyond summer league, and play competitive games in a tournament atmosphere across the state.

Travel teams are offered consistently at age levels 8U-14U.  Teams at 7U and 15U are evaluated on a yearly basis pending the number of interested players.  Multiple teams will be offered at each level if there are enough interested participants and qualified coaching candidates. Teams play in 4-7 tournaments per season depending on age level, including the appropriate home Plover tournaments. 

Teams are set each August for the following season. Coaches for each team are selected by the board of directors after the team members are determined.

Player costs for the PWYA travel program include an order for a personalized uniform package (~$100), as well as a  payment to cover team specific tournament entry fees (~$100-$200).  All-in combined costs for both uniform and dues typically range from $200-$300 annually.  Travel teams may offer an offseason/preseason program (fully coordinated by individual coaches/teams) which would have additional indoor facility costs if choosing to participate.

Our 2024 Travel Season ends on Sunday, July 28th after our Plover Finale Evens Tournament.

Tryouts for 2025 Travel Teams will take place on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 at the Woyak Complex (Rain Date Wednesday, July 31st)

• Alternate Evaluations for those unable to attend (with approval of travel coordinator) must be arranged to take place prior to the main tryout. 

Team rostering will begin immediately following the main tryout date.

Please read for the process, depending on age group:

• All players age 7U-15U wishing to be rostered on a team for the 2025 season must register on the online registration form prior to tryouts.

2025 Age players 8U-10U: 

• All players in these age groups will be required to participate in the evaluation on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 at 6:00pm (Rain date Wednesday July 31st). 
• Parents:  Please sign your child in, help them get to their field, and then allow us to work with your player for 90 minutes before returning.  Parents will be politely asked to leave once their player takes the field - they are in good hands! 
• An alternate evaluation for schedule conflicts may be offered the week prior - only with approval of Boys Overall Coordinator for those unable to make the main tryout.  Email to contact info on this page. 
• All evaluations will be completed by the main tryout date to allow team rostering to begin immediately.
• A rostering meeting will occur at each age group including each 2024 travel team head coach, the summer league coordinator at age group, and Travel Coordinator or an Executive Board Representative.
• After rosters are set, 2025 coaches will then be identified and roster offers will be sent from Travel Coordinator to families ASAP.

2025 Age Groups 11U-14U:

• NEW players to a travel roster -or- those wishing to move teams are required to attend the main Tryout (same details as above bullet point). 
• Players currently traveling as a 2024 National or American/Rebel and not trying to move up are not required to attend tryouts.  This does NOT guarantee a current roster placement, but an acknowledgment that there is a very large body of work and history behind current travel players at these age groups (discuss with your coach).  Players that do tryout, regardless of if they are required or not, will be judged accordingly - For example, a great tryout will help a player's rostering outcome positively and a poor tryout would negatively impact a player.   Our goal is to focus more reps and evaluator attention on players that need a closer look for rostering decisions.
• A rostering meeting will occur at each age group including each 2024 travel team head coach, the summer league coordinator at age group, and Travel Coordinator or Executive Board Representative.
• After rosters are set, 2025 coaches will then be identified and roster offers will be sent from Travel Coordinator to families ASAP.

2025 Age Groups 7U & 15U

• Register for tryouts to indicate your desire to play in 2025 - but note that we are not planning on having evaluations for 7U & 15U.  We will contact families afterwards based upon #'s of interested players.

General Information:

• Tryouts will occur at Woyak Sports Complex in Plover (2381 Cedar Drive). Registration will be near the Woyak Main concession stand at least 30 minutes prior to the tryout
• Tryouts are free, but pre-registration is required online.  The tryout registration link below will go live by the month of July.

2025 Travel Ages based on the player's age as of April 30th of 2025.

Example: If your son is 10 years old on April 30th, 2025 they should try out for a 10u travel team during the Fall 2024 tryout.

**Note**  In 2021 the PWYA Board of Directors agreed upon ongoing standards to handle players playing outside of their DOB age group.  Fall 2021 (2022 team tryouts), we allowed a one-time "Age Reset" for players to fall into their proper age group according to Date of Birth.  Moving forward, it was agreed that new players would not be permitted to play up in a higher age group unless they are filling out a roster due to inadequate player numbers (ie 7's filling out an 8u roster).  Except for mutually beneficial and unique scenarios, players should remain with their proper age group of players to stabilize rostering from year to year.

Additional Information

• Players must participate in the PWYA 2025 Summer League in order to be eligible to travel for Plover.
• The 2024-2025 travel season runs from September 1, 2024 thru August 31, 2025 if an age group chooses to participate in fall/winter activities or tournaments
• Please note, a deposit of $100 to PWYA will be due if your son gets selected for a Plover Travel Baseball team to accept a spot. This $100 will be credited toward  2024-2025 Tournament travel fees. 
• Travel fee deposits are intended to signify a roster spot acceptance, and may prompt communication to a player not selected.  Deposits will not be refunded if your player later chooses to not travel on a PWYA travel baseball team.
