Kimberly Tournament 6/26-6/28

The 12u Plover Nationals spent the weekend in Kimberly playing their way to the Championship.  The weekend started with hot bats Friday night against Door County.  The team combined for 10 singles, 2 doubles (Jaworski and Pelky), and a triple (Sankey).  Entering day two of the tournament the Nationals emerged victorious over a tough Kimberly team.  The team was limited to 9 hits for the game; Sankey and Jaworski contributed 2 singles each, Pelky and Hunt each contributed a double, and Schelvan added a triple.  Strong defensive play by both teams kept scoring to a minimum.  As the only undefeated team in our pool we were awarded the 1 seed, and would be back to Sunset Park to begin play earlySunday morning.  The march to the championship began facing another tough Kimberly squad.  Leading the offensive charge was Zblewski with a triple and a single, and Conrad with a double and a triple.  Next up the team faced Chippewa Falls and the bats were getting hot again.  Leading the way offensively were Zblewski and Baumgartner each with a single and a double, while Hunt contributed a triple.  Moving on to the Championship game the team faced New London. Defensive play was strong by both teams.  Baumgartner went to deep center with the teams only homerun of the tournament, Schelvan added a double, Hunt added two singles, with Conrad and Sankey rounding out the offense each with a single.  The team remains undefeated.
